My Approach
I see human relationship as an opportunity for healing and growth so I focus on developing a safe & non-judgmental relationship to create space for exploration and understanding of your own experiences.
I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as the main theoretical basis for my work. TA is a humanistic & existential therapy which is a perspective emphasizing the whole individual and stresses the concept that people are okay. This is a statement of essence rather than behaviour - it means that each of us has worth, value, and dignity as a human being and deserves to be treated accordingly. Rather than focusing on dysfunction, I look to support people in fulfilling their potential and maximizing their well-being through exploration on how an individual's personality has been shaped by experience - particularly stemming from childhood. My work is also influenced by Gestalt techniques, Attachment Theory and Neuroscience. Let's talk about what this means if you have any questions.

What to expectIt is important that we have time to get to know one another, set expectations and develop a shared understanding of what you would like to get out of therapy. I suggest that this initial phase will require between 4-6 appointments. From there, if we both agree that continuing may be beneficial for you, we will work together on exploring and understanding your experiences and what we can do moving forward to support you and grow from the experience. Therapy is a deeply personal journey so I do not know exactly how many sessions you may require, this is something we can discuss together and set realistic expectations, generally, therapy is not a quick fix.
I think of each individual as a whole person and therefore integrate discussions about diet, physical activity, breath work, sleep and social support systems which all play a large role in mental and overall well-being. Sometimes, minor changes in life-style can have a great effect. |
